Celebrate International Womens Day this March by inspiring the next generation. Events are at Nelson & Colne College on 6th March and at Lancaster & Morecambe College on 8th March. Read more below or click the images to join us.
This year the Global theme for International Women’s Day is ‘Be Bold for Change’ and literally thousands of organisations and communities across the globe will join together to celebrate women’s journey towards parity.
International Women's Day is all about unity, celebration, reflection, advocacy and action - whatever that looks like globally at a local level. But one thing is for sure, International Women's Day has been occurring for well over a century - and continues to grow from strength to strength.
This year in March Role is partnering with Nelson & Colne College, and with Lancaster & Morecambe college to inspire and encourage 30 female students during a day of motivation, debate, presentations and one to one mentoring at the respective colleges. We hope to ignite some ‘sparks’ which will enable them to become a catalyst for change as they continue their education and consider their futures.
If you are a senior manager in any Lancashire organisation or a female business owner, please pledge just 5 hours of your time to help girls in Nelson on 6th March, or Lancaster on 8th March by clicking the images above. Wendy Bowers, Founder of Role and past President of East Lancashire Chamber of Commerce says, Our Oysters and Pearls events bring together local successful women with young girls who need a little extra support. The half-day events are facilitated by a Professional actress and are full of motivation, debate and sharing. We want the girls to believe in themselves and their future. Delegates at previous events have said the day was ‘‘life changing’’ and teachers at Preston’s college said they visibly watched the girls ‘grow’ during the course of the morning. Lancashire is home to some of the world’s most innovative businesses - Whatmore UK, MendIT, Performance Fluids. With your help, we can showcase a whole range of careers and opportunities available to our next generation. We can encourage them to aim high and aim local.
During the events a hot buffet lunch will be served. The event will end with optional networking and a glass of bubbly!
NB! The Nelson & Colne College event is fully funded, so we are delighted to offer free places to ladies joining us. In order to fund the Lancaster & Morecambe Event there is a pledge of £25 per lady to attend.
