The pride in the room was palpable this morning as Ruth Connor (CEO Marketing Lancashire) introduced the promotional video 'We are Lancashire' at Burnley FC.
It was great too to hear Edwin Booth and Simon Blackburn talking about the 'coming together' of Lancashire at a political and strategic level - a long time in the making but happening at last.
As a Lancastrian born and bred, a product of Clitheroe Grammar and Nelson and Colne college and with a mantra of 'hard work will get you there' instilled by great parents, I was as proud as anyone sitting in that room this morning and I will be first in line when those Lancashire Ambassador roles are needed early next year.
It feels like we are really getting somewhere by pulling together in Lancashire and I really do believe that we have something for everyone in this great county.
To demonstrate this to the next generation, I am working with Nelson and Colne college (where I was once proud to be rag queen!) to inspire 50 female students and show them the vast range of opportunities we have in Lancashire. We don't want our youngsters thinking that they must take their initiative and passion to the big cities, in order to succeed. We need them to know that Lancashire is connected to global opportunities via it's creative, digital, advanced manufacturing, food and leisure industries every second of every hour, every day of every week and they can stay in this beautiful unspoilt area and build a business or a career in any sector they choose.
So please, if you are a proud Lancashire lass and would like to be part of a motivational and inspirational event where we give our next generation a myriad of reasons to become Lancashire apprentices, graduates and employees, please follow this link and give 5 hours of your time on the 28th November at our next Oysters and Pearls event. http://tinyurl.com/z9wnn7b
Go on ..........it'll make you feel proud.
